It's insane. For 6 years I became UI students but never once I attended Jazz Goes To Campus Festival (JGTC). Ever. Until this year. The reason??? Back then I just want to spent my weekend at home. Not to mention that I don't have passion to watch music concert that much, like now. This year, I have no intention to watch JGTC. But, when they announced that Nouvelle Vague will perform, suddenly I wanted to go. I only knew their song "Too Drunk To F**k". But that's enough for me. So I bought JGTC ticket from my SSB student. I got the pre-sale 2 price. Not only me, but my SSB colleagues wanted to come too. So we promised to meet each other. But then we realized that we wanted to watch different performances. I wanted to watch Andre Harihandoyo & The Sonicpeople at 4PM. While other wanted to watch Glenn Fredly, which was on 10 PM. So I came earlier than the others. I also wanted to save seats for Nouvelle Vague. I came around 3.30 PM. It's good to be back to campus. There's a familiar yet strange feeling return to UI. My last visit was in 2010 when my brother graduated. Since then, never once I came to visit FISIP UI, or even UI itself. I took a chance to walk around the campus before heading to FE.
At JGTC, they have 3 stages, which was Levi's Stage, Ford Fiesta Stage and Jazz The Way It Is Stage. When I checked the rundown, all performer I wanted to watch performed at Jazz The Way It Is Stage. Andre Harihandoyo & The Sonicpeople, Nouvelle Vague, LLW, and Glenn Fredly, all in that particular stage. First performance, Andre Harihandoyo & The Sonicpeople. I've heard them when they do acoustic performance at Hard Rock FM. I'm very curious to see their performance. They literally took my breath away on stage. Simple performances yet felt really warm. I really wanted to buy their album. On 5.15 PM, I took a chance to looked at other stages. I met my senior in Broadcast. We talked a bit and together we wanted to watch Nouvelle Vague. Before Nouvelle Vague, the performer was Jazz The Way It Is Project. The group consists of Benny Likumahuwa, Barry Likumahuwa, Oele Pattiselani, Rien Djamain, Indra Azis, Sam Panuwon and Dimas Pradipta. Benny and Barry performed "Sesaat Kau Hadir" from Alm. Utha Likumahuwa with flute and bass only. The drizzled that night added the romantic atmosphere from their performance. The performance itself,,, although I'm not expert in jazz, showed their high skills. Benny and Indra showed their skills in scat, like they talked to each other in the language of jazz that I don't understand hehehe. But it's cool performance. In the middle of their performance, I decided to bought a raincoat. Because I'm getting wet and it's not comfortable anymore. After quick purchase, I return to the stage. Thank God I got further and further to the middle. When I returned, the stage was prepared for next performer, which is Nouvelle Vague. I took my camera out and tried few times took several pictures to found best angle hehehe. We've waited almost 15 minutes. Then when the players came out, we're shouted like crazy!!! They gave us intimate performances. They sang some songs I knew (they did some cover version) like "Dancing With Myself", "God Save The Queen", and of course "Too Drunk Too F**k". Woohoo!! Before they sang "Too Drunk Too F**k", they said there are 3 rules when you're watching Nouvelle Vague. Those rules are:
I managed to took some pictures and enjoy the performances. But, my feet started to tired and their shaking!!! Then I realized I haven't sit for 4 hours!!! My heart was torn apart, should I leave the venue or stay watched the performance. Then my feet started to trembled very hard, so my conscious won. I left the venue, took a taxi and went straight to Pancoran, back to my rental room. On Monday 5/12, I looked at all my pictures. Some of them clear, lots of them blurred. Especially when Nouvelle Vague and Jazz The Way It Is Project performed. I tried to stood still, but the drizzle rain and shaky legs, epic fail hehehe. So I decided to uploaded it here. Overall, very satisfied. I really want to watch Nouvelle Vague again. Next time they came I definitely will watch them hehehe. Totally rock!!!
