Killers Director : Mo Brothers Stars : Oka Antara, Kitamura Kazuki, Luna Maya, Rin Takanashi A psychopathic Japanese executive accidentally triggers a journalist's 'dark side'. They begin to connect over the Internet and make a complicated bond. (synopsis from here) Mo Brothers (Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel) came back to Indonesia movie scenes with their new work, Killers. Official selection for Sundance Festival 2014, prepare to watch violence scenes. Just like their previous works (Rumah Dara, Macabre), Killers offers gore and torture scenes. What do you expect with a movie about serial killers, happy scenes? Nope!
I challenged myself to watch this type of movies, my last one was SAW series. Believe me, it took me all my courage to watched this movie. Yeah, I'm a person with little heart when it comes to blood splatters hehehe. I have to admit, the story very interesting. How a psychopathic killer uploaded his "masterpiece" to the internet and connected to one person that accidentally become a murderer. From Nomura's point of view, his act was merely because he saw death and murder as an escapism from cruel world. From Bayu's point of view, the killing made him confused and questioned himself, who is this person and is it worth it what he did. The actors, Oka Antara (Bayu) and Kazuki Kitamura (Nomura) played really well. Kazuki depicted Nomura as cold-blooded killers. With his eyes, he gave sort of chill feelings, heartless but inside a bit vulnerable. Oka showed great performance about Bayu's transformation from regular person to a killer who fought with his heart. There are also some bloopers in this movie, especially about how Nomura act. As an experience serial killer, he did some careless act. Anyway, these thing is forgiven by the story itself. Mo Brothers also slipped some humor in the movie. For me, it relieved my nerves hehehe. In the end, I think this movie reflect about phenomenon that happens nowadays. We record, with digital camera or smartphone, things that we see interesting. Some of us maybe record our children's sing, other's maybe love to record live music performance. Although it describe in extreme way, yes there are some people out there love to record accident even murder just for their documentation. Internet and technology development allow us to share things to public. What we shared can be source of joy or source of our fulfillment. In Nomura's case, I think is source of his fulfillment. The control feelings over his victims. Overall, although I covered my eyes around 70% of the movies, this movie is good. Test your courage by watching this movie.
